LMIA approved. This employer is approved to hire a foreign worker into this role, which is what lets a work permit be issued for it. It does not by itself make you eligible.

About this role

Wetaskiwin Truck & Trailer operates a heavy-duty repair and parts business, and this role supports the people who keep its shops and fleet running. The help desk handles the everyday technology problems staff run into — locked accounts, printers, handheld scanners, shop-floor terminals and the software the service writers use to open work orders. This is an entry-level position and we are willing to train the right person on our systems.

The day is spent answering calls, tickets and walk-ups from technicians, parts staff and the office. You will reset passwords, set up new users, track down why a workstation will not print, and log each issue so nothing gets dropped. When a problem needs more than a first pass, you hand it to the senior IT staff with clear notes on what you have already tried.

What you'll be doing

  • Ticket handling. Log every call and walk-up in the ticketing system, set a priority and close it out when the issue is resolved.
  • Account support. Reset passwords, unlock accounts and set up new users in the systems staff use daily.
  • Hardware checks. Troubleshoot printers, scanners, docks and desktop machines and swap out simple failures.
  • Handover notes. Escalate anything beyond a first fix to senior IT staff with a written summary of the steps taken.

What they're asking for

  • Education. High school diploma or equivalent; a short IT or computer support course is an asset but not required.
  • Experience. None required — we hire people starting out and provide on-the-job training.
  • Technical comfort. Familiarity with Windows, Microsoft 365 and basic networking from school, home or a previous job.
  • Reliability. Ability to work onsite in Belle-Baie on a set schedule and pass a criminal record check.

What the employer offers

  • Training time. Paid onboarding on our ticketing system and the shop software before you take live calls.
  • Health coverage. Group medical and dental benefits after the probation period.
  • Gear provided. Laptop, headset and any tools you need for the desk are supplied.
