LMIA approved. This employer is approved to hire a foreign worker into this role, which is what lets a work permit be issued for it. It does not by itself make you eligible.

About this role

Durham Region Appliance Repair is a small, independent repair shop serving households across Lennox and Addington and the surrounding townships. The shop also runs a counter-service lunch spot beside the workshop, and we are adding a server to help look after the lunch rush and the walk-in customers.

The day starts with setting up the counter, checking the specials board and getting tables ready before the doors open. From there you take orders, run food and drinks, keep the dining area clean, and settle bills at the till. The midday peak is busy and the pace stays steady, but the room is small and the customers are mostly regulars.

What you'll be doing

  • Service. Take orders at the counter and tables, answer questions about the menu and carry food and drinks to guests.
  • Setup and close. Set tables and the specials board before opening, then clear, wipe and restock at the end of the shift.
  • Billing. Ring in orders, take payment by card or cash and balance the till at close.
  • Cleanliness. Keep tables, floors and the counter area clean and follow food-safety practices throughout the day.

What they're asking for

  • No experience needed. We will train the right person on the menu, the till and our service routine.
  • Food safety. A valid food handler certificate is an asset, or willingness to complete the short course within the first month.
  • Availability. Must be able to work the posted daytime hours, including Saturdays.
  • Language. Comfortable speaking and understanding English at a working level for taking orders and talking with customers.

What the employer offers

  • Meals. A free meal on every shift and staff pricing on items from the shop.
  • Tips. Tips are pooled and paid out with each pay period.
  • Training. Paid orientation and food handler course fees covered after three months.
