LMIA approved. This employer is approved to hire a foreign worker into this role, which is what lets a work permit be issued for it. It does not by itself make you eligible.

About this role

Ottawa Valley Hardwood Flooring runs a hardwood flooring warehouse in Altona, MB, supplying boards, trim and finishing products to contractors and homeowners across southern Manitoba. We are adding order pickers to the warehouse floor to pull customer orders accurately and get them loaded for delivery.

The day starts with a pick list and a handheld scanner. You walk the aisles, pull the right lengths and grades of flooring and accessories, check quantities against the sheet, and stage finished orders at the loading bay. You help load trucks, keep aisles clear and tidy, and flag damaged stock to the supervisor. Training is on the job, so no warehouse background is needed.

What you'll be doing

  • Order picking. Pull flooring, trim and accessories from warehouse racks using pick lists and a handheld scanner.
  • Accuracy checks. Match product, length and grade against the order sheet before it leaves the floor.
  • Loading support. Help move staged orders to the bay and load them onto trucks safely.
  • Housekeeping. Keep aisles clear, stack stock neatly and report damaged or short product to the supervisor.

What they're asking for

  • No experience needed. We train the right person on picking, scanning and safe lifting.
  • Physical fitness. You can lift and carry up to 50 lb repeatedly and stand for most of a shift.
  • Safety footwear. Steel-toed boots are required on the warehouse floor from day one.
  • Reliability. You can get to Altona for a consistent start time each day and follow written pick lists.

What the employer offers

  • Overtime pay. Hours beyond 40 in a week are paid at time and a half.
  • Safety gear. Steel-toed boots are reimbursed up to $150 after three months.
  • Paid leave. Two weeks of vacation pay accrues from the first pay period.
