LMIA approved. This employer is approved to hire a foreign worker into this role, which is what lets a work permit be issued for it. It does not by itself make you eligible.

About this role

Labrador Straits Welding runs a small clinic support office in Azilda, Ontario, serving patients from the surrounding area. The work is front-desk and chairside support for the optometrist: booking appointments, preparing patients for eye exams, and helping with frame selection and adjustments.

A typical day starts with reviewing the schedule and confirming appointments by phone. Through the day you greet patients, take preliminary history and visual acuity readings, handle reception and payments, and keep the frame displays and exam rooms tidy. Full training is provided on the equipment and paperwork.

What you'll be doing

  • Patient intake. Greet patients, confirm their details and record a brief history before the exam.
  • Pre-testing. Perform visual acuity checks and other preliminary readings on training-provided equipment.
  • Appointments. Book, confirm and reschedule patient visits and manage the daily schedule.
  • Frame support. Help patients try frames, take basic measurements and make simple adjustments.

What they're asking for

  • Training provided. No previous clinic or optical experience is needed; we train the right person.
  • Education. Ontario secondary school diploma or equivalent.
  • Language. Comfortable speaking and writing English at a working level.
  • Schedule. Available for weekday clinic hours and the occasional Saturday morning.

What the employer offers

  • Health coverage. Extended health and dental benefits after three months.
  • Gear. Uniform allowance provided for clinic wear.
  • Paid leave. Two weeks of paid vacation in the first year.
