LMIA approved. This employer is approved to hire a foreign worker into this role, which is what lets a work permit be issued for it. It does not by itself make you eligible.

About this role

Halifax Harbour Marine Supply operates a residential care site in Atikokan, Ontario, supporting residents with daily living needs in a small, close-knit setting. We are hiring Nurse Aides to join our care team, and this is an entry-level role: we provide the on-the-job training, so no prior care experience is needed.

The day is spent with residents. You help people get up, washed and dressed in the morning, assist at meals, and support them through activities and rest periods. You report changes you notice to the supervising nurse, keep resident areas tidy and safe, and write brief notes at the end of each shift.

What you'll be doing

  • Personal care. Help residents with bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting while respecting their dignity and preferences.
  • Meals and hydration. Assist residents at meal times, follow any texture or dietary plans, and record what was eaten and drunk.
  • Mobility support. Help residents move safely between bed, chair and washroom using the lifts and techniques you are trained on.
  • Observation and reporting. Note changes in a resident's condition or mood and pass them to the supervising nurse promptly.

What they're asking for

  • Training provided. No previous care experience is required; new workers are paired with an experienced aide for their first weeks.
  • Certification. Standard First Aid and CPR Level C, or willingness to complete both within the first month of hire.
  • Screening. A clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening before the start date.
  • Physical fitness. Able to lift and transfer residents with equipment and stand for most of a shift.

What the employer offers

  • Shift premiums. An extra $1.50 per hour for evening and night shifts and for weekend hours worked.
  • Uniform and supplies. Uniform tops, gloves and other personal protective equipment are provided at no cost.
  • Paid leave. Three weeks of paid vacation after the first year, plus paid sick days as set out in the employment standards.
