LMIA approved. This employer is approved to hire a foreign worker into this role, which is what lets a work permit be issued for it. It does not by itself make you eligible.

About this role

Sturgeon County Concrete operates a ready-mix and precast yard serving builders and municipal projects across the Ballantrae area. We are adding a commissionaire to our gate and yard team to control access, direct deliveries and keep the site safe and orderly.

The day is spent at the gatehouse and around the yard. You log visitors and trucks in and out, check paperwork against loads, direct drivers to the right bay and walk the yard to keep fire lanes and pedestrian routes clear. You work outdoors in all weather and coordinate with dispatch when the schedule changes.

What you'll be doing

  • Access control. Screen everyone entering the gate, issue visitor passes and record arrivals and departures in the log.
  • Traffic direction. Guide ready-mix trucks and delivery vehicles to the correct loading and washout areas.
  • Patrols. Walk the yard and perimeter at set intervals, checking gates, lighting and fire lanes.
  • Reporting. Note incidents, damaged fencing or unsafe conditions and pass them to the yard supervisor at shift end.

What they're asking for

  • Certification. A valid Ontario security guard licence is required, or the ability to obtain one before starting.
  • Experience. No previous experience needed; training is provided on site.
  • Tickets. Standard first aid and CPR are an asset, and the employer will arrange the course if needed.
  • Conditions. A clean criminal record check and the ability to stand and walk for most of a shift outdoors.

What the employer offers

  • Pay premium. An extra $1.50 per hour for night shifts and weekend coverage.
  • Gear. Steel-toed boots, high-visibility jacket and rain gear are supplied.
  • Leave. Two weeks of paid vacation after the first year, plus statutory holidays.
