LMIA approved. This employer is approved to hire a foreign worker into this role, which is what lets a work permit be issued for it. It does not by itself make you eligible.

About this role

Hastings Home Inspection runs banquet and event service at community halls and rented venues around Battleford. We set up, serve and clear for weddings, meetings, fundraisers and family gatherings, working with whatever caterer and hall the client has booked.

A shift starts with room set-up: tables, chairs, linens, place settings and the coffee station. Through the event you carry plates and trays, top up water and coffee, clear courses as they finish, and keep the buffet or bar area tidy. At the end you pack everything back into the van and leave the hall the way the rental agreement expects.

What you'll be doing

  • Room set-up. Arrange tables, chairs, linens and place settings to the floor plan before guests arrive.
  • Table service. Carry plates and trays, serve courses and top up water, coffee and condiments through the event.
  • Clear and reset. Clear dishes and glassware between courses and keep the buffet and bar areas clean.
  • Pack-down. Tear down tables and equipment, pack the van and clean the hall at the end of the night.

What they're asking for

  • No experience needed. We train new staff on the floor, so this suits someone looking for a first serving job.
  • Food safety. You must be willing to complete Food Safety Level 1 within the first month, at our cost.
  • Serving It Right. Alcohol service may be part of the shift, so you need to be able to get your Saskatchewan certificate.
  • Physical work. You will stand for the whole shift and lift up to 25 kg, so reasonable fitness is required.

What the employer offers

  • Event bonus. Staff who stay to the end of pack-down receive a completion bonus on top of hourly pay.
  • Meals. A staff meal is provided on shifts of six hours or longer.
  • Flexible scheduling. Pick up shifts around school or another job, with most work on evenings and weekends.
