LMIA approved. This employer is approved to hire a foreign worker into this role, which is what lets a work permit be issued for it. It does not by itself make you eligible.

About this role

Chilliwack Berry Growers Co-op is a member-owned farming operation, and this season we are running a workplace literacy and numeracy program for our seasonal harvest crews. We need a teaching assistant to support the instructor in the classroom and out in the fields, helping workers build the reading, math and safety skills they use every day.

A typical day starts with setting up the training room and signing people in, then moving between small groups to explain exercises and answer questions. You will help workers who are learning English, keep attendance and progress notes, and spend part of each week shadowing lessons on the harvest floor so the training stays practical.

What you'll be doing

  • Classroom support. Set up materials and work one-on-one with learners on reading and number exercises.
  • Attendance and records. Sign participants in and keep simple progress notes for the instructor.
  • Language help. Explain instructions in plain language for workers still building their English.
  • Field sessions. Accompany the instructor to the fields and help run hands-on safety and measurement activities.

What they're asking for

  • Education. Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience. None required; this is an entry-level role and training is provided.
  • Language. English at CLB 5 or better, spoken and written.
  • Transport. Reliable way to reach the Baie-Comeau site; occasional early starts during harvest.

What the employer offers

  • Paid orientation. Two days of paid training before the program starts.
  • Gear. Rain jacket and safety vest supplied for field sessions.
  • Meal credit. Lunch provided on full field days during harvest.
