About this role

Iqaluit Building Supplies runs a licensed child care space for its staff and the wider Baie Verte community. We are hiring an early childhood educator to join the small team that plans and delivers daily programming for children aged 18 months to five years, with a focus on play-based learning and outdoor time in every season.

The day starts with setup and a check of the room and outdoor area, then circle time, free play and a snack. You will record observations, keep daily logs for parents, and work with one other educator to keep ratios and routines steady. Cleaning and resetting the space at the end of the day is shared by everyone on shift.

What you'll be doing

  • Programming. Plan and lead play-based activities that suit the ages and abilities of the children in the room.
  • Supervision. Keep children in sight and safe indoors and outdoors, including at pickup and drop-off.
  • Records. Complete daily logs, incident reports and observations for each child and share them with parents.
  • Room care. Sanitize toys and surfaces, restock supplies and reset the space at the end of each day.

What they're asking for

  • Certification. A college certificate or diploma in early childhood education, or willingness to complete one while working.
  • Experience. None required; we will train the right person on our routines and curriculum.
  • Tickets. Current first aid with CPR for children, or willingness to obtain it within the first month.
  • Conditions. A clear vulnerable sector check and the ability to work in a busy room with young children.

What the employer offers

  • Pay extras. An hourly premium on top of the base rate for staff who hold a Level 2 or Level 3 certification.
  • Cover. Group health and dental benefits after three months of continuous employment.
  • Leave. Paid vacation and sick leave that accrue from the first day worked.
